How to use the score keeper

        1. Name the game and choose whether the highest or the lowest total wins. Golf-style games use lowest, most card and board games use highest.
        2. Add each player or team under Players. You can add up to twelve, reorder them and remove anyone.
        3. In the Scores table, type each player's score for the round. Press Add round for the next one. Negative numbers and decimals such as 7.5 work.
        4. Watch the Standings table and the leader line update as you type. An empty box is not counted, so a round can be filled in one player at a time.
        5. Press Print or Download PDF for the score sheet, Download CSV for a spreadsheet or Copy standings for a short text summary.

        How totals and ranks work

A player's total is the sum of every score typed in their column. Scores can have up to two decimals and can be negative, which covers games with penalties. The tool keeps the figures as exact hundredths, so adding 7.5, minus 2.25 and 0.5 gives exactly 5.75 instead of a number like 5.749999.

Rank 1 goes to the highest total, or to the lowest if you choose that rule. Players with exactly the same total share a rank, and the next rank is skipped, as in 1, 1, 3. The leader line names one player, or lists the tied players, and it stays blank until somebody has a score.

An empty box means not played yet, not zero. If you want a zero, type 0. This matters when you enter a round one player at a time, and when someone joins a game late, because the total does not change until a real score is entered.

        Printing and saving

The printed score sheet lists every round as a row and every player as a column, with a Total row and a Rank row at the bottom. With more than five players the page turns sideways to give each column room. A game can have up to 40 rounds, and long sheets continue onto further pages with the headings repeated.

Tick Remember my entries in this browser and the game is stored on this device, so you can come back after a break. It does not sync to other devices. Clearing site data, or using a private window, removes it, so download a CSV if you want a permanent record. Nothing is uploaded.

What this tool does not do

It adds scores. It does not know the rules of any game, apply bonuses, check bids or end the game when a target score is reached, so you decide when the game is over. For tournaments with matches and elimination, use the tournament bracket generator, and for counting events one at a time the tally counter is quicker.

        Assumptions and limits

        • Scores are numbers with up to two decimals and may be negative. Anything else is flagged with the player and round.
        • An empty box is not counted as zero. A total only includes the scores that were typed.
        • Ranks use the exact totals. Tied players share a rank and the leader line lists all of them.
        • A game holds up to 12 players and 40 rounds. Saved games stay in this browser only and are not backed up.

        Frequently asked questions

        Can the lowest score win?

Yes. Switch Who wins to Lowest total and the ranks reverse, which suits golf, Hearts and other games where fewer points are better. The leader line and printed rank follow the rule you choose.

Does an empty score box count as zero?

No. An empty box is treated as not played yet. Type 0 if the player really scored nothing. This keeps totals correct while you enter a round one player at a time.

How many players and rounds can I keep score for?

Up to 12 players and 40 rounds. Past five players the printed sheet switches to landscape, and long games continue on extra pages.

Will my game still be there tomorrow?

Only if you tick Remember, and only in the same browser on the same device. Private windows and cleared site data remove it. Download a CSV if you want to keep the final scores.

Are scores sent to a server?

No. Totals, standings, the PDF and the CSV are all made in your browser. Optional saved games stay in your own browser storage and you can delete them by unticking the remember box.
