How to use the letterhead and memo generator

      1. Choose Make a Memo or Letterhead page, then enter your company or organization and the date.
      2. For a memo, fill in To, From, an optional CC and the Subject. For a letterhead, add a tagline, up to two address lines and your phone, email or website.
      3. Type the Body, separating paragraphs with a blank line. On a letterhead you can add a recipient, greeting, closing and signature name to make a complete letter.
      4. Leave the letterhead body empty to print blank stationery, and tick Add writing lines if you want ruled lines for handwriting.
      5. Press Download PDF or Print. The page carries no SumPanda logo or footer.

      What a memo is for

A memo is a short internal document sent within an organization to share a decision, a reminder or an update. It has a standard header: To, From, Date and Subject, with an optional CC line, followed by a rule and the message. There is no greeting and no signature. The subject line should say what the memo is about in a few words, because many readers decide from it whether to read on.

This tool sets the memo in 11 point text with a bold, aligned header, a green rule under the header lines and one inch margins. Long messages continue onto further pages. The company name appears in capital letters above the heading, which helps when memos are filed together.

      Letterhead pages

A letterhead is the header block at the top of company letters: the name, an optional tagline, the address and contact details, and a rule. This tool draws one at the top of a US Letter page and then either leaves the page empty, so you can print stationery, or lays out a letter below it. If the letter runs onto a second page, a small company name appears at the top as a running header.

Printing blank letterhead and writing or typing the letter yourself is useful for a small business that wants a consistent look without design software. The text is Helvetica only, with no logo upload, so it suits simple, clean stationery.

      Limits and privacy

These are layout templates. They do not check what you write and are not legal advice, and policy or legal documents should be reviewed by someone qualified. Nothing you enter leaves your browser, and if you tick Remember, the entries are stored on this device only. For formal correspondence with a recipient block, the business letter generator is another option.

      Assumptions and limits

      • Pages are US Letter with one inch margins and text in Helvetica only. Logos, images and custom fonts are not supported.
      • The memo has no signature line and no approval workflow. It is a layout for the text you write.
      • The letterhead prints the address on one line separated from the contact details by a bar. Very long entries are wrapped and may run to a second line.
      • These templates are not legal advice, and the tool does not check wording or policy content.

      Frequently asked questions

What goes in the header of a memo?

A memo header has To, From, Date and Subject lines, with CC when copies go to others. This tool lays them out in aligned rows above a rule, then prints your message beneath.

Can I print blank letterhead paper?

Yes. Choose the letterhead page and leave the body, recipient and signature empty. You get a page with only the company header, and an option to add ruled writing lines below it.

      Can I add a logo?

No. The tool draws text only, so it works without uploading files. If you need a logo, print the page on paper that already has one or add it in a word processor.

Does a letterhead letter continue onto a second page?

Yes. The second page starts with a small company name at the top, followed by the rest of the text, so a long letter stays tidy and identifiable.

      Is anything uploaded?

No. Pages are drawn in your browser and the PDF is made on your device. Saved entries, if you tick Remember, stay in this browser only.
