How to use the league table generator
- Type the results, one match per line, as Home 3-1 Away. A hyphen or a colon works between the scores.
- Set the points for a win, a draw and a loss. The 3, 1 and 0 shown are examples, since leagues differ.
- Check the sorted table in the preview and the note under it.
- Press Download PDF or Print, and add new results whenever more matches are played.
How the table is built
For every result the page adds a game played to both teams, adds the goals for and against, and gives the points you chose for a win, a draw or a loss. Team names match without regard to capital letters or extra spaces, and the first spelling you typed is the one shown.
Rows are sorted by points, then goal difference, then goals scored, then name. In the example of five matches, Reds have 2 wins and 1 draw from 3 games for 7 points, Greens have 5 and Blues have 1. With 3 wins, a draw and a loss, and 3 points a win, a team has 10 points.
Different leagues, different rules
Real leagues break ties in different ways, and some use head-to-head results, fewer games played or a points deduction. This page uses one common order and says so on the printed table. If your league uses another rule, adjust the final order by hand.
The points for each result are yours to set, so a two point win or a loss that costs a point also works. Next, draw a playoff with the Tournament Bracket Generator, keep a running score with the Score Keeper, or rotate positions with the Sports Lineup Rotation Generator. The Practice Plan Template helps with training between matches.
Assumptions and limits
- Each line is one finished match with whole-number scores up to 99.
- Ties are split by goal difference, then goals for, then name.
- Up to 30 teams and 600 results fit.
- The table is calculated from the results you type and is not a league record.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a league table?
Give each team points for its results, add up games, wins, draws, losses and goals, and sort by points. This page does it all from a list of scores.
How are ties in points broken?
By goal difference, then by goals scored, then alphabetically. If your league uses another rule, adjust the order by hand.
Can I change the points for a win?
Yes. The 3 for a win, 1 for a draw and 0 for a loss are examples. Type whichever whole numbers your league uses.
How do I enter a result?
Write the home team, the score, a hyphen or colon, the away score and the away team, such as Reds 3-1 Blues. One match per line.
