How to use the weekly review template
- Pick a week starting date if you want it printed, and edit the section headings, one per line.
- Choose how many writing lines each section gets, from 2 to 8.
- Set the heading and number of priority lines for the last block.
- Press Download PDF or Print, and fill it in at the end of the week.
What a weekly review is for
A weekly review is a short, regular pause to look back and plan ahead. You note what went well, what you learned and what got in the way, then pick a few priorities for next week. Doing it on paper in ten or fifteen minutes keeps it light enough to repeat.
The four headings shown are examples: What went well, What I learned, What got in the way and What I will change. Replace them with your own prompts, such as Wins, Worries or People to thank. You can use from one to six sections.
How the page fits together
Everything is drawn on one portrait page. The page measures the space left after the headings and the priority block, and spaces the writing lines to fill it, so a page with four sections of four lines has roomier lines than one with six sections of eight lines.
The last block has numbered lines for next week's priorities. Three is a number many people find manageable, but you can print from one to seven. Carry those priorities into a Printable Weekly Planner or a Daily Planner, and check them against longer goals with the Goal Tracker Planner.
Making it a habit
Pick a regular time, such as Friday afternoon or Sunday evening, and keep the pages together in a folder. After a month, read the old pages. Patterns often show up that are hard to see in the middle of a busy week. You can pair this page with a Habit Tracker or a Mood Tracker.
Assumptions and limits
- The page has 1 to 6 sections of 2 to 8 lines and 1 to 7 priority lines.
- Line spacing is set so everything fits on one page.
- The headings are examples and can be changed.
- Nothing you type is sent anywhere. The page is made in your browser.
Frequently asked questions
What should I put in a weekly review?
Many people note what went well, what they learned, what got in the way and what they want to change. Then they choose a few priorities for the next week.
How long should a weekly review take?
Ten to fifteen minutes is enough for most people. A one page sheet keeps it short on purpose.
How many priorities should I pick?
Three is a number many people find manageable, which is why it is the starting value. You can print anywhere from one to seven lines.
Can I change the headings?
Yes. Type your own prompts, one per line. The page makes a ruled section for each one.
