Photo Collage Maker

Put several photos into one picture, with even spacing, a shape you choose and the order you want.

Your files stay on your device. They are processed in your browser and are never uploaded to SumPanda.

Pictures are placed in the order of the list, and you can move any picture earlier or later. Large pictures are reduced to 2000 pixels on the longest side while you work, which is plenty for a collage up to 3000 pixels wide. Everything stays on your device.

How to use the photo collage maker

    1. Choose up to 12 pictures, or drop them on the box. JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF files up to 25 MB each work. A small card appears for each picture, in the order they will be placed.
    2. Use Move earlier, Move later and Remove on a card to change the order or drop a picture. Pick a layout: a grid, one row, one column, or one large picture with the others stacked beside it.
    3. Choose the shape of the collage, its width, and whether pictures fill the cells (cropping the edges) or show the whole picture with the background around it. Set the space between pictures, the outer margin and the background color.
    4. Press Download the collage to save a JPG or PNG. The preview above the button shows the same arrangement at a smaller size.

Three pictures in a 2000 by 1500 grid

With three pictures, the grid has two columns and two rows, and the single picture on the last row is made wide enough to fill it. At the starting settings, the margin and the space between pictures are each 1 percent of the width, which is 20 pixels.

The inside of the canvas is then 1960 by 1460 pixels. The two rows are 720 pixels tall with 20 pixels between them, the top row holds two cells 970 pixels wide, and the bottom picture is 1960 pixels wide. Each picture is cropped from its center to the shape of its cell.

    How the layouts work

All sizes are whole pixels, and the cells together with the gaps fill the space inside the margin exactly. When the space cannot be divided evenly, the first cells are one pixel larger than the rest. A grid is as close to square as possible: it has the next whole number of columns above the square root of the picture count, and a last row with fewer pictures stretches its cells to fill the row, so there are no holes.

In the large-and-small layout, the first picture takes three fifths of the width, and the others share the rest in a stack. A row or a column gives every picture the same share. If the margin and gaps leave no room for the pictures, the page says so instead of drawing something broken.

    Fill or whole picture

Filling the cells crops each picture from its center to the shape of its cell, without stretching, so no part of a cell is left empty. Showing the whole picture keeps every part of it, centered in its cell, and leaves the background color in the spare space. Choose the whole picture when edges matter, such as faces near the border or pictures with text.

While you work, large pictures are reduced so the longest side is 2000 pixels. That is more than a 3000 pixel wide collage needs for any layout with two or more columns. To turn the finished collage into a drawing, try the photo to sketch tool, and to add a frame, use add border to image.

    Privacy and limits

The pictures are read and combined in your browser. They are not uploaded. SVG files, PDFs, HEIC photos and other file types are refused by checking the first bytes of each file before anything is decoded, and the page tells you which files were skipped. A collage holds up to 12 pictures, and the saved collage is up to 3000 pixels wide.

    Assumptions and limits

    • The layouts are fixed templates. Pictures cannot be dragged to custom positions or sizes.
    • Space between pictures and the margin are percentages of the collage width, from 0 to 10, and the same on every side.
    • Pictures with transparency show the background color through the transparent parts.
    • A JPG collage has no transparency and is saved at 92 percent quality, a setting of this tool.

    Frequently asked questions

    Why are my pictures cropped?

The Fill the cells setting crops each picture to the shape of its cell. Choose Show the whole picture to keep every part and let the background fill the spare space.

How do I change which picture comes first?

Use Move earlier or Move later on a picture card. The first picture is the large one in the large-and-small layout.

Why does it say there is not enough room?

The margin and the spaces take more width or height than the pictures can share. Reduce the space between pictures, the margin, or the number of pictures.

    Are my pictures uploaded?

No. They are read and combined in your browser tab, and the collage is saved to your device.
