How to use the daily routine chart for kids

      1. Write the morning steps in order, one per line, and the evening steps the same way.
      2. Choose seven days or Monday to Friday, and the number of weeks.
      3. Optionally type the child's name and a title.
      4. Print the chart. Each step is numbered and has a box for every day.

Three morning and three evening steps

A routine with 3 morning steps and 3 evening steps is 6 steps. Over 7 days that prints 6 x 7 = 42 checkboxes on the page. Choosing Monday to Friday gives 6 x 5 = 30 boxes.

The chart holds up to 10 steps in each routine and 16 in total, so a long routine still fits on one page. Leave the evening list empty to print only a morning routine, which then shows 21 boxes for three steps over seven days.

      Steps in order

Each step has a number so that children can follow them in order, and the steps are written in your own words. Short phrases work best, such as Get dressed or Pack the bag. Morning and evening are printed as separate tables so that each routine has its own set of boxes.

A tick box is quieter than a sticker and works well for children who like to check things off. For sticker charts with a goal and a reward, the reward chart for kids uses circles and a row of stars.

      Using the chart

Print one page a week and put it where the routine happens, such as the kitchen or the child's room. Keep the list short, and change it as the child grows. Children often find a routine easier to follow when they helped write it, so ask for their ideas and let them tick the boxes themselves. A chart that is too long becomes a chore of its own. The chore chart generator shares household jobs among several people, the daily planner schedules a whole day, and the habit tracker prints a monthly grid.

The chart is a simple record and makes no claim about child development. Your own judgment about what suits your child comes first.
