How to use the text repeater
- Type the text to repeat. It can be a word, a sentence or several lines.
- Enter how many times to repeat it, from 1 to 100,000.
- Choose what goes between copies: nothing, a space, a new line, a blank line, a comma and space, or your own text. In your own text, \n makes a new line and \t makes a tab.
- Tick Number each copy to start each copy with 1. 2. 3. Then copy the result or download it as a text file.
What you can do with it
Repeating text is useful for filling a test file with sample lines, building a pattern such as ha ha ha, creating a long input to test how a form handles size, or making a list that repeats the same item with numbers. The result box shows the exact text, and the line below shows how many copies and how many characters it contains.
The separator controls the shape: a new line gives one copy per line, a blank line gives paragraphs, and your own separator can be anything, such as a comma or a pipe with spaces around it.
Size limits
The result can be up to 1,000,000 characters and up to 100,000 repeats. If your request would be larger, the page shows a message explaining how many characters it would be, instead of locking up your browser. The check happens before any work, so changing the number is instant.
To clean or sort a repeated list afterward, use text cleanup. To count the words or characters of the result, use the word counter, and to flip the result, try reverse text.
Privacy
The text is repeated in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored, and closing the page discards it.
Assumptions and limits
- The count must be a whole number from 1 to 100,000.
- The result is limited to 1,000,000 characters.
- A custom separator understands \n, \t and \\ only. Other backslash sequences are used as typed.
- Numbering is plain digits followed by a period and a space.
Frequently asked questions
How do I repeat a word several times?
Type the word, enter the number of times and choose a separator. With a space separator, "ha" repeated 3 times is "ha ha ha". Copy the result with one click.
Can I put each copy on its own line?
Yes. Choose A new line between copies. For paragraphs with an empty line between them, choose A blank line.
Why was my request refused?
The result would be longer than 1,000,000 characters, or the count was above 100,000. The message shows the size it would have been, so you can pick a smaller count.
How do I use a tab between copies?
Choose My own text and type \t in the box. The tool turns it into a real tab character in the result.
