Cleaning comes first
An SVG is a text file, and unlike a picture it can contain scripts, links and references to other files. This tool cleans the SVG before drawing it. It keeps only drawing elements such as shapes, text, gradients, filters and styles. It removes scripts, embedded web content, animation, event attributes such as onclick, links, and any reference to a file outside the SVG. Pictures embedded as PNG, JPEG, GIF or WebP data inside the file are kept, and everything that is removed is listed on the page, so nothing disappears without notice.
The cleaned SVG is shown as an image, never inserted into the page as markup, so it cannot run anything. Because outside files are removed, an SVG that depends on a web font or a linked image may look different. Embed the font or picture in the file, or convert the text to outlines, to get the same look.
Choosing a size and background
An SVG has no fixed pixel size, so the size comes from its width and height, or from its view box. If neither exists the tool uses 300 by 150 pixels, the same fallback browsers use. Pick 2, 3 or 4 times for sharper images, or type an exact width and the height follows. Output is limited to 16,384 pixels on a side.
PNG keeps transparency. JPG does not, so white or your chosen color is used behind the drawing. For other conversions, see the image converter, the image resizer and the PNG to ICO converter, and the PDF to image tool for documents.
Files stay in your browser
The file is read, cleaned and drawn in your browser. Nothing is uploaded. The limit is 5 MB for the SVG text.
Assumptions and limits
- Only drawing elements are kept. Scripts, links, animation and outside references are removed and reported.
- Size comes from width and height, or the view box, with 300 by 150 pixels as a fallback.
- Fonts that are not embedded fall back to the fonts on your device.
- Output can be up to 16,384 pixels on each side.
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an SVG to PNG?
Choose the file or paste the code, pick a size and press Convert and download. The PNG is made in your browser.
Why did the tool remove parts of my SVG?
Scripts, links and references to outside files are removed for safety. The page lists exactly what was removed.
Can I get a bigger PNG?
Yes. Pick 2, 3 or 4 times, or set the width in pixels. The SVG is drawn at the new size, so it stays sharp.
Does the PNG keep a transparent background?
Yes, if you leave the background on Transparent. JPG cannot be transparent, so a solid color is used.
Is my SVG uploaded?
No. It is cleaned and drawn in your browser.
