How to use the semester weeks left calculator
- Enter the first day and last day of the term, and the date to count from. Use Today to start from the current date.
- Open the advanced options to tick the weekdays your class meets and to list days with no class, one date per line.
- Read the weeks and days left, the share of the term finished, and the class meetings that remain.
- Use the next class meeting line to see the date of your next session.
Formula
term days = last day - first day + 1
days left = last day - count-from date + 1
weeks left = days left / 7
share finished = (count-from date - first day) / term days x 100
If the count-from date is before the first day, everything is still ahead and the days are counted from the first day. If it is after the last day, nothing is left.
A fall term
A term runs from August 24 to December 11, 2026, which is 110 days, or 15.7 weeks. Counting from October 12, 61 days are left, including October 12 and December 11. That is 8 weeks and 5 days, or 8.7 weeks, and 44.5% of the term is finished.
For a class that meets Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the term has 48 meetings and 27 remain, starting that same Monday. If the class skips November 25, November 27 and October 12, then 24 of 45 meetings remain and the next one is Wednesday, October 14.
Counting class meetings
The meetings are counted day by day between the count-from date and the last day, keeping only the weekdays you ticked and removing the dates you listed. Include a date in the skip box for every holiday or break your class misses, since the page cannot know your school calendar.
If a make-up class or a different schedule applies, adjust the weekdays or the skipped dates to match.
Planning the rest of the term
Knowing how many weeks and meetings remain helps pace reading, assignments and revision. Use the days between dates calculator for any other span, the business days calculator to count weekdays only, and the assignment tracker and the exam study planner to organize what is left.
Assumptions and limits
- Dates are calendar dates. Time zones and the time of day are not used.
- Both the first day and the last day count as days of the term, and the count-from date counts as a day left.
- No school calendar is built in. Holidays and breaks only count if you list them.
- The weekdays you tick are the only days a class can meet. Classes that move from week to week are not modeled.
Frequently asked questions
How many weeks are left in the semester?
Enter the first and last day of your term and the page counts the days from today to the last day and divides by 7. It shows both the decimal weeks and whole weeks plus days.
Does it include today?
Yes. The count-from date counts as a day left, and if you have class on that date it is counted as a meeting that remains.
How do I leave out holidays?
Open the advanced options and type each date with no class on its own line as YYYY-MM-DD. Those dates are removed from the meeting counts, but not from the weeks left.
What if the term has not started yet?
The page treats everything as still ahead. It shows the whole term as days left, 0% finished, and the first class meeting as the next one.
