How to use the math worksheet generator
- Pick the operation: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division or a mix of all four.
- Set the smallest and largest numbers to use, the problems per page and the number of pages.
- Keep the answer key on if you want it, and optionally give the sheet a title.
- Check the preview, then download the PDF or print. Press New problems for a different sheet, or keep the code to print the same sheet again.
How the problems are made
Each problem is built from numbers in your range. Addition and multiplication use any two numbers in the range. For subtraction the larger number comes first, so no answer is negative. For division the tool picks a divisor and an answer in your range and multiplies them to get the number being divided, so every answer is a whole number with no remainder. A range from 1 to 12 on multiplication gives the familiar times table facts.
The tool avoids repeating a problem on the same worksheet when the range allows it. With a very small range, such as a single number, there may not be enough different problems, so repeats are allowed and the page says so.
Codes and answer keys
The worksheet code is a number that fixes the random choices. The same code with the same settings always gives the same sheet, which is useful for printing a copy later or sharing the code with another teacher. The answer key lists every answer in order on separate pages, 60 to a page.
For related practice see the fraction calculator, the long division calculator and the flashcard maker. The name tracing worksheet covers early writing practice.
Limits
Numbers go up to 1,000, with up to 40 problems per page and 10 pages. Problems are written across the page as equations with a line for the answer. The sheet is a practice tool and does not grade any student's work or adapt to skill.
Assumptions and limits
- Numbers range from 0 to 1,000, and division and mixed sheets need a smallest number of at least 1.
- Subtraction answers are never negative and division answers are always whole numbers.
- A code and the same settings always give the same sheet.
- Pages are US Letter portrait with a name and date line.
Frequently asked questions
How do I make a multiplication worksheet?
Choose Multiplication, set the smallest and largest factors, such as 1 and 12, pick the number of problems per page and download the sheet. An answer key is included if you leave it on.
Why does division never leave a remainder?
The tool multiplies a divisor by an answer from your range to get the dividend, so each division comes out even.
Can I get the same worksheet again?
Yes. Keep the worksheet code and use the same settings, and the same problems are generated.
Can subtraction give negative numbers?
No. The larger number is always placed first so every answer is zero or more.
Is the answer key on its own page?
Yes. The answers follow the worksheet pages, in the same order as the problems.
