How to use the insert blank page in pdf
- Choose a PDF or drop it on the box. One file at a time, up to 25 MB and 500 pages.
- Choose where to add: after page numbers you list, after every N pages, before page 1, or after the last page. A number means the page the blank comes after, so 1 puts one between pages 1 and 2.
- Set how many blank pages each time, and the blank page size: matching the nearby page, US Letter or A4.
- Check the line that tells you how many pages will be added, then press Add blank pages and download.
Why add blank pages
Blank pages are often needed so that chapters start on a right-hand page when printing double-sided, so that a section divider sits between two parts of a document, or to leave room for handwritten notes. Putting one after every second page of a two-up layout is another common job.
To remove blank pages instead, use remove blank pages from PDF. To rearrange or delete pages, use organize PDF pages, and to number pages after adding blanks, use add page numbers to PDF.
Sizing the new pages
Matching the nearby page copies the visible size of the page just before the new one, so a landscape page gets a landscape blank, and a rotated page is measured the way it looks on screen. At the very front, where no page comes before, the size of page 1 is used. US Letter and A4 give every blank page that paper size, which suits files where all pages are the same.
Original pages are copied as they are, so text stays selectable and image quality is kept. Bookmarks, links and form fields are not carried over.
Limits and privacy
Up to 10 blank pages can be added at each spot, and the result is limited to 1,000 pages. The file is read and written in your browser and never uploaded. Password-protected files are refused and passwords are never guessed or removed. Use the merge PDF tool to join several files into one afterward.
Assumptions and limits
- The file is a normal PDF without a password, under 25 MB and 500 pages.
- Blank pages have no content, headers or numbers. They are completely empty.
- After every N pages leaves out the spot after the final page unless you tick the box to include it.
- Metadata, bookmarks, links and form fields are not carried over to the new file.
Frequently asked questions
How do I insert a blank page in a PDF?
Choose the PDF, type the page number the blank should come after, and press the button. Page 1 puts a blank page between pages 1 and 2, and Before page 1 puts one at the very start.
Can I add a blank page after every other page?
Yes. Choose After every N pages and enter 2. The blanks go after pages 2, 4, 6 and so on, and after the last page only if you tick the box.
What size will the blank page be?
By default it matches the page before it. You can also pick US Letter or A4. A rotated page is matched by how it looks, not by its stored dimensions.
Will my original pages change?
No. They are copied as they are into a new file, and your original file is not touched. Text stays selectable.
