How to use the date sequence generator
- Choose the start date.
- Set Repeat every to a number and pick days, weeks, months or years, then enter how many dates you want, up to 366.
- Pick what happens to weekend dates: keep them, skip them, or move them to the nearest Monday or Friday. Choose a date format to match your sheet or system.
- Read the table, then copy it, print it or download the CSV.
Formula
Date k = start date + k x interval, for k = 0, 1, 2, ...
Months and years are added to the start date, not to the previous date
A day that does not exist in a month is replaced by the last day of that month
Weekend rule: keep, skip (draw the next date instead), move to Monday, or move to Friday
Counting every date from the start avoids drift. Starting January 31 and adding one month each time gives February 28, then March 31, not March 28.
Every other Monday from November 2, 2026
Starting on Monday, November 2, 2026 and repeating every 2 weeks gives 2026-11-02, 2026-11-16, 2026-11-30, 2026-12-14, 2026-12-28, 2027-01-11, 2027-01-25, 2027-02-08, 2027-02-22 and 2027-03-08. Ten dates take you to March 8, 2027, all Mondays.
A monthly series from January 31, 2026 runs 2026-01-31, 2026-02-28, 2026-03-31, 2026-04-30, 2026-05-31 and 2026-06-30. A yearly series from the leap day February 29, 2024 gives 2025-02-28, 2026-02-28, 2027-02-28 and then 2028-02-29 again.
How the weekend rules differ
With Keep, every date in the series stays where it falls. With Skip, a Saturday or Sunday date is dropped and the next date in the series takes its place, so the list still has the number of dates you asked for. With Move to Monday or Move to Friday, a weekend date shifts to the nearest weekday in that direction, which can put two dates on the same day when a daily series crosses a weekend.
Holidays are not considered. For paydays or deadlines that must avoid holidays, check the final list against the US Federal Holidays Calendar.
Good uses for a date list
A list of dates saves time when you fill in a rota, a payment plan, a reminder sheet or a training calendar. Assumptions and limits
- Month and year steps count from the start date, and a missing day becomes the last day of the month.
- The list is capped at 366 dates and at the year 9999.
- Dates are plain calendar dates, so time zones and daylight saving do not affect them.
- Nothing is sent anywhere, and the list is not saved unless you download it.
Frequently asked questions
How do I list every other week from a start date?
Set Repeat every to 2 and choose Weeks. The table lists the start date, then the date 14 days later, and so on until it reaches the number of dates you asked for.
What happens when a month has no 31st?
The date becomes the last day of that month. A series from January 31 gives February 28 or 29, then returns to March 31, because each date is counted from the start.
What is the difference between skip and move?
Skip removes a weekend date and uses the next date in the series instead. Move keeps a date for every step but shifts a weekend date to Monday or Friday, which can repeat a day.
Can I get the dates in my country's format?
Choose the ISO format 2026-11-02, the US format 11/02/2026 or the long format November 2, 2026. Pick the one your sheet expects before you copy.
