How to use the pet care schedule printable

        1. Optionally type the pet's name. List each daily task and how many times per day it is done, from 1 to 4.
        2. Choose the number of weeks and the first day of the week. Optionally add a date to print the date of each week.
        3. Print the chart. Each page is one week, with one box for every time a task is done.
        4. Use the lines at the bottom for medicine, vet visits and notes.

        The default chart

A pet fed twice a day gets two boxes in each day's column, which is 2 x 7 = 14 feeding boxes a week. The default list has Feed twice, Fresh water once, Walk twice, Medicine once and Litter box once, which is 7 times a day and 49 boxes on each weekly page.

A task done four times a day, such as a medicine given at set hours, gets 28 boxes. The page tells you how many boxes it holds so you can check the numbers.

A shared chart for the household

When several people look after a pet, a chart on the fridge shows what has been done and what has not. Ticking a box right after feeding prevents doubled meals and missed ones. Boxes are small but clear, and the chart sits in a weekly grid so a quick look shows the whole week.

The tasks and counts are yours. The tool prints what you enter and does not advise how often a pet should be fed, walked or given medicine. For that, ask your veterinarian.

        Pet costs and chores

The annual pet cost calculator adds up what a pet costs over a year, and the dog food bag calculator shows how long a bag lasts. For family jobs beyond the pet, the chore chart generator rotates chores among people, and the pet age calculator converts an age.

Write medicine names and times in the notes lines by hand, so that the record stays with the person doing the care. A weekly page also makes a handy record to show a pet sitter or a veterinarian, since it shows exactly what happened and when.

        Assumptions and limits

        • Times per day run from 1 to 4 and each time gets one box.
        • Up to 14 tasks fit on a page.
        • The week starts on the day you choose and dates are added only if you give a start date.
        • The chart does not know anything about your pet or its needs.

        Frequently asked questions

How do I make a pet care schedule?

List each task and how many times a day it is done. The chart gives one box per time, so feeding twice a day has 14 boxes a week.

How many times a day can a task be done?

Up to 4. More than that does not fit in a day's column.

Can I use it for several pets?

Print one chart per pet and type the pet's name at the top. You can also list the tasks for each pet in one chart.

Does the chart tell me how often to feed my pet?

No. It prints the tasks and counts you enter. Ask your veterinarian for care advice.
